DIY Aquarium Stand

This is a simple how-to on building an aquarium stand. The stand in this case is designed for a 72G All Glass Aquariums Bowfront tank. The identical steps can be followed for a rectangular tank (75G etc.).
The tank footprint dimensions were 48" wide and 12" at the ends and 18" at the tip of the bow. You can purchase everything you need at the local hardware store in terms of materials, and if you need tools most of the superstores rent the tools as well. You should have them cut the 2x4's for you with their saws so you get nice clean cuts and precise measurements for the frame of the stand.
I used pressure treated and sealed 2x4s which are quite abundant in South Florida. You can use regular 2x4s but if they get very wet they could bulge and warp your tank. The price difference between the two is quite significant, but in my opinion was well worth it.
Make a sketch of the stand. with precise measurements
depending on the size of your tank. In my case the stand frame was 48"L x 18"D x
22"H. When taking your measurements take into account the thickness of the 2x4s
when assembling them, so compensate the measurements accordingly.
